Prepmatter (prepmatter.com, not PrepMatters, the US academic tutoring company) is an online consulting prep company selling the Get the Offer video course with drills, assessment simulators for McKinsey Solve, BCG Online Case, BCG CCA, Bain TestGorilla, Bain SOVA and Pymetrics, and coaching with former BCG consultants, per its site, checked 23 September 2026. Coaching costs 269 euros per 75-minute session (1,295 euros for 5); the course is sold as monthly or annual access and the simulators as a one-time charge for 12 months, but those prices are not shown on its public pages. Free: peer mock interviews with automatic partner matching, a resume and cover letter course and a Sea Wolf demo. Feedback comes from written solutions on course cases and drills, question-by-question reports on the Solve simulator, peers, or a paid coach; the course page now says no refunds once access is granted.

Prepmatter's course covers fit as well as cases, with worked answer examples. Watching strong answers teaches you the shape, and it is not the same as producing one. McKinsey's Personal Experience Interview in particular grades something more specific than a general fit answer: it wants a story where you personally drove the outcome, with the tension named and your own reasoning visible. That is a speaking skill, and speaking skills only improve out loud. Rehearse one now instead of reading another example:

Prepmatter also publishes a success rate on its own pages. Treat any self-reported offer rate in this industry with care: without a published denominator or a definition of which firms count, it cannot separate the programme's effect from the selection effect of people who pay for prep.

The fit coverage is a real strength. Many case platforms treat behavioural preparation as an afterthought, and worked answers are useful if you learn by example. If McKinsey is in your pipeline, read our PEI guide alongside it, because the McKinsey format asks for something more specific than a general fit answer.
Does Prepmatter still offer a 50% refund guarantee?
No. The Get the Offer page, checked 23 September 2026, says the opposite.
Its FAQ reads: "Due to the digital nature of the course, we do not offer refunds once access has been granted. If you choose the monthly plan, you can cancel anytime to prevent future renewals."
The earlier guarantee returned 50 percent if you completed the course and still received no offer, on production of an official rejection email. It is worth knowing it existed, because some writing about Prepmatter still describes it. If you are deciding on the strength of a guarantee you read about somewhere, check the page before you buy.
What replaced it is an ordinary subscription cancellation. On the monthly plan you stop future charges by cancelling; the annual plan is a one-time payment for 12 months.
What is Prepmatter best at?
Free peer practice
Live practice with another candidate is one of the hardest inputs to obtain for free, and Prepmatter gives it away with automatic partner matching. Peer practice has real limits, since your partner is usually preparing at the same time as you, but it rehearses the thing a video cannot: speaking a structure out loud while somebody waits.
Worked video examples
Thirteen live case videos plus fit answer examples is a good library for a candidate who learns by watching before doing. Seeing a strong candidate hold a structure under pressure teaches pacing in a way that written cases do not. Our own case interview examples serve the same purpose in written form.
Assessment coverage
Prepmatter sells simulators for McKinsey Solve (all three games), the BCG Online Case chatbot (15 interactive cases), BCG CCA, Bain TestGorilla, Bain SOVA and Pymetrics, each as a one-time charge for 12 months. Its Solve simulator returns a report mapping your answers to the traits McKinsey evaluates, with question-by-question feedback. A candidate with an unusual screen is likely to find it covered.
How much does Prepmatter cost in 2026?
Coaching has public prices; the course and simulators do not.
A Prepmatter blog post still states "Prepmatter's Get the Offer course costs $169 as a one-time payment", while the course page now describes monthly and annual plans. Treat $169 as an older figure and check the price at enrolment.
Where does Prepmatter sit in the wider market?
Prepmatter gives away peer practice and a resume course, and charges for a course, simulators and coaching, which makes a straight price comparison misleading. The same three columns for every provider, each name linking to our full review:

What changed on the Get the Offer page in August 2026?
Two things: the refund guarantee came off, and the pricing moved from a single charge to monthly or annual access.

One practical consequence: a Prepmatter blog post still quotes the $169 one-time price. If you arrive from that post, the product page will not match it.
Where does Prepmatter fall short?
The price is not on the page
RocketBlocks, CaseCoach, PrepLounge, CaseBasix, MConsultingPrep, and Management Consulted all publish at least one product price on a public page. Prepmatter publishes coaching prices but not the course or simulator prices, which appear at enrolment.
Feedback on course work is a written solution
The course's case studies and drills come with written solutions, so you compare your attempt with the answer rather than getting your own attempt graded. A scoring rubric helps you do that comparison; a coach or a scored rep gives you an outside judgement. A graded rep looks like this:

Prepmatter is a candidate-friendly company with a useful free layer and one of the wider assessment-simulator ranges in consulting prep. Buy the course when your gap is knowing what to do rather than doing it, buy a simulator when you have a confirmed screen it covers, and note that course access is not refundable once granted.
