Crafting Cases Review (2026): The Best Structuring Method, and What It Costs

An independent Crafting Cases review: why its custom-structure method is right, what the free 7-day course really is, and what the courses do not do.

Crafting Cases makes the strongest argument in case prep, that you should build a custom structure rather than recall a memorised framework, and its six courses run from free to $397. It was built by Bruno and Julio, former McKinsey and Bain consultants, who state more than 10,000 hours of coaching and roughly 200 candidates coached before the courses existed, with over 100,000 people through them since. The catalog runs to six courses: a free-to-enrol fundamentals course covering six core skills, a structuring course, 12 fully commented MBB-level cases, plus market sizing, case math and mental math programs. A free 7-day course is the entry point and contains real teaching rather than a sales sequence. What none of it does is grade the structure you build under time. The homepage opens with an unsourced claim that 97 percent of candidates are rejected from McKinsey, BCG and Bain, which is an attention hook rather than a measurement, and prices appear only on each course's individual sales page.

Crafting Cases is built around one argument: build a custom structure instead of recalling a framework. It is the right argument, and the only way to know whether you can execute it is to build one now.

Build a custom structure and have it graded from the Road to Offer drill engine. Start with two guided choices and explanations, then answer the same skill in your own words for AI-scored feedback. Free accounts include daily drills.

Estimation is where a stored framework helps least. There is no profitability tree to reach for and no 4Ps to fall back on, so a market sizing question exposes whether you can genuinely build a path from what you know to what you were asked, or whether you have only learned to recognise a good one. That is exactly the distinction Crafting Cases is built around, and it is the distinction a course cannot verify for you. It is also the cheapest thing in this whole review to test on yourself. Try one and see how your own building blocks hold up:

Test the method on an estimate from the Road to Offer drill engine. Start with two guided choices and explanations, then answer the same skill in your own words for AI-scored feedback. Free accounts include daily drills.

Is Crafting Cases legit?

Yes.

  • Founded by Bruno and Julio, former consultants at McKinsey and Bain.
  • They state 10,000+ hours of coaching and roughly 200 candidates coached directly before building the courses.
  • Over 100,000 people have gone through the courses, per the company.
  • The free 7-day course contains real instruction, which is the easiest way to judge the teaching before paying.

One thing worth naming: the homepage opens with "Why do 97% of candidates get rejected from McKinsey, BCG and Bain?" with no source attached. Rejection rates at MBB are genuinely severe, and a precise-looking percentage used as an attention hook is a marketing device rather than a measurement. It does not undermine the teaching, and it is the kind of number you should not repeat as fact.

What does Crafting Cases teach?

Six courses built on one argument: assemble a custom issue tree from reusable components rather than recalling a stored framework.

How much do Crafting Cases courses cost?

Every price is public, on one page: Structure from Scratch is $397, Analytics Academy $297, Control the Case $247, Master Market Sizing $197, Bulletproof Mental Math $70, and Case Interview Fundamentals is free.

The one thing worth knowing before you look is where the numbers live. The marketing page most people land on lists the courses without prices; the student catalog it links to lists all six with them. That is one click, not a hidden price, and the free fundamentals course plus the 7-day email course cover the method well enough to judge the paid ones before you spend anything.

Buying here is straightforward once you know the catalog page exists. The real question is not the price but the shape: these are courses that teach a method, with no scored practice attached, so the money buys instruction and the reps have to come from somewhere else.

Where does Crafting Cases sit against full platforms?

Crafting Cases is a specialist in one skill while most of this list sells a platform, so a like-for-like price comparison flatters nobody. The field below separates them on what you pay and on who judges the structure you actually build.

The line the table draws: method and repetition are sold separately, and Crafting Cases sells method. It is the best version of that on this list. It also means the volume and the grading have to come from somewhere else, whatever you spend here.

What is Crafting Cases best at?

The structuring method

This is the reason to pay attention. Framework-first teaching hands you profitability, market entry, and the 4Ps and tells you to pick one. That works until the case does not fit, which in a real interview is most of the time. Building a tree from components aimed at the client's actual decision is both harder to teach and closer to the job. If you want the underlying principle in written form, start with MECE structuring and our frameworks guide, then see how Crafting Cases operationalises it.

Depth over breadth

Six courses, each going deep, rather than forty shallow modules. The market sizing and case math programs in particular treat their subjects as skills to be built rather than question banks to be worked through.

The free 7-day course is real

Many free courses in this industry are a sales sequence with a lesson attached. This one teaches. Take it regardless of what you decide to buy.

Commented cases

Twelve fully commented MBB-level cases is described as the closest thing to being coached by them, and worked commentary on a full case is genuinely more useful than a clean model answer, because it shows the decision points rather than only the destination. Our case interview examples and video examples serve the same purpose free.

What is the building blocks method, actually?

It is the claim that a good structure is assembled rather than recalled, and it is worth understanding whether or not you buy anything.

The standard approach hands you a set of frameworks, profitability, market entry, the 4Ps, and asks you to pick the closest match. That works while the case resembles the template and fails the moment it does not, which in a real interview is most of the time.

The building blocks approach inverts it. You start from the decision the client has to make, break that into the questions that must be answered to make it, and assemble each branch from reusable analytical components. The output looks like a framework and was arrived at backwards, from the problem rather than from a stored list.

Why this matters more than it sounds: the two produce structures that look similar on paper and score completely differently. An interviewer is not checking whether your tree is tidy. They are checking whether it would actually resolve the client's question, and a recalled framework only does that by luck.

The honest limit is that understanding this and executing it under time are different skills, and the gap between them is wide. You can follow every word of the argument and still produce a generic tree when a stranger is watching a clock. That gap closes with graded repetition, which is not what a course sells.

Where does Crafting Cases fall short?

No published prices

Most of the platforms in this cluster publish at least one number on a public page: RocketBlocks, CaseCoach, PrepLounge, CaseBasix, MConsultingPrep, and Management Consulted all do. Crafting Cases does not, and neither do Prepmatter or the Look Over My Shoulder program. Whatever the reason, the effect on you is the same: a candidate comparing five options cannot put this one in the table without opening a sales page for each course.

Teaching without grading

You will finish the structuring course understanding what a good tree looks like. You will not find out whether the tree you built under time pressure, on an unfamiliar industry, with an interviewer pushing back, was any good. That distance is the whole difficulty of the case interview, and no video course closes it:

Build a structure and get it scored from the Road to Offer drill engine. Answer a real prompt and get AI-scored feedback. Free accounts include daily drills.

A heavy marketing funnel

The free course leads into an email sequence and course offers. Nothing wrong with that model, and it does mean the buying experience feels more like a launch than a shop.

Nothing on assessments

Digital screens, McKinsey Solve, the BCG online case, and one-way video interviews are outside the scope. If a screen is the reason you have not reached an interview, this is not the product that fixes it.

Volume has to come from elsewhere

Twelve commented cases teaches you a great deal and it is twelve cases. Most candidates need several times that number of reps before structured thinking becomes something they can execute rather than describe, and the free case library is one place to find that volume.

Who should buy Crafting Cases?

Buy it if your structures come out generic and flat. Take the free course first if you have not yet run a case.

What Road to Offer is, exactly

Road to Offer is a full consulting interview prep platform powered by AI, not a single case grader. It carries 57 active practice cases run by voice or guided text and scored on a seven-dimension rubric, a 600+ drill bank across 6 skill types plus timed Quick Math, two online assessment simulators (a BCG Casey-style simulator with 10 original cases, first two questions free with no account, and a CCA-style simulator), behavioral and McKinsey PEI practice, step-by-step Learning Mode lessons, a free consulting resume grader, an application tracker, and a free case book vault.

The free tier includes 1 full AI-graded case, daily drill practice across the 600+ bank, and a free resume review, with no card required. Signing up grants 1 case credit, so that first full case runs in Voice Mode for free. Paid entry starts at a $20 one-time Starter bundle (5 case credits); Pro is $49/month or $249/year. Road to Offer is AI-only: no human coaching, no hourly coaching rates, and no peer-matching marketplace. The trade is instant scored feedback on every rep instead of scheduling a partner.

Crafting Cases is a deep specialist in one skill, and structuring is the right skill to be deep in. It is not a preparation system: no screens, no behavioural rehearsal, no volume, no grading. Road to Offer is consulting-only and covers the rest of the process around the method, with full scored cases, six drill types, the MBB screen simulators, behavioural and PEI rehearsal, a resume grader and a tracker. The pairing is obvious once the gap is named: Crafting Cases teaches you how to build a structure, and you need somewhere to build a lot of them and be told which ones failed. Learn the method, then run the volume against scored feedback so the method becomes a reflex rather than a concept you can explain.

What does Crafting Cases publish for free?

Crafting Cases gives away its clearest thinking, including the free 7-day course and the issue tree guide. Both are worth your time regardless of what you buy.

Their free material is unusually good teaching. Ours is the practice that teaching is for.

Learn the building blocks method from them. Then build one under time and have it marked, because a method you cannot execute at speed is not yet a skill.

Build a structure from scratch and have it graded

Their method is about producing a custom tree rather than reaching for a framework. Run a structure drill scored on objective fit and see whether yours holds up.

Verdict: is the Crafting Cases method worth paying for?

Crafting Cases is the most intellectually serious product in this category and the most annoying to price. Take the free course, learn the structuring method properly because it is the correct one, and buy a paid course only after you have confirmed that your gap is understanding rather than repetition. If you already know what a good structure looks like and still cannot produce one under time, more teaching is not your answer.
