Consulting Recruiting Timeline Europe 2026/27
The consulting recruiting timeline in Europe is set country by country: the UK works to autumn deadlines, Germany and Spain collect applications all year and review them at fixed cut-offs, and France, Switzerland, the Nordics and Benelux review on a rolling basis with a recommended lead time of about four to six months.
This guide covers the dated deadlines, each country from the UK to Italy, the online test and interview language per office, and what to do this month. It lists when McKinsey, BCG, Bain and the main tier-2 firms recruit for internships and full-time roles. Every date links to the firm's or school's own page, checked on 6 November 2026.
When do consulting firms recruit in Europe?
There are three calendars in Europe: fixed autumn deadlines in the UK, year-round applications reviewed at cut-off dates in Germany, Austria and Spain, and rolling review with a four to six month lead time in France, Switzerland, Benelux and the Nordics. McKinsey's German page shows how the second model works: it "collects all applications until the next deadline" and the next one is 23 November 2026. BCG Switzerland describes the third: it accepts applications "throughout the entire year ... without any deadlines" and asks for at least six months' notice.
The practical difference is what "late" means. In London, a missed October deadline means waiting a year. In Munich or Madrid, a missed cut-off moves you to the next batch. In Paris or Zurich there is no deadline, but interview slots and start months fill, so the lead time is the real constraint.
For the US and global calendar, see consulting application deadlines 2026. This page covers Europe only.
Which European consulting deadlines close next?
Six deadlines fall between 8 November 2026 and 10 January 2027, starting with OC&C London's Analytics role on 8 November and Bain's pan-European Masterclass on 22 November. These are the open windows on each firm's own page on 6 November 2026:

After those, the January cluster follows. OC&C London's summer internship advert runs until 4 January 2027. McKinsey Spain's fifth date is 7 January. Oliver Wyman's UK and Ireland internship closes 15 January 2027, and the firm says it may close the window early. Roland Berger's German internship cut-off is also 15 January 2027, with answers by 29 January and the next cut-off on 12 March 2027. To keep these dates next to your own applications, add them to your application tracker, or read how to set one up in the consulting application tracker guide.
How is the European calendar different from the US one?
US firms run one national cycle with summer deadlines for the following year, while European offices set their own calendars, often year-round, and expect you to name a start month. The US cycle is covered on our global deadlines page. In Europe, three things work differently.
First, you apply to an office, not a country cycle. BCG France asks for a separate application per position and office and advises staying within three or four BCG offices (BCG France FAQ). Second, start dates float. McKinsey Germany lets you apply up to a year ahead and start within 12 months of an offer, and Roland Berger plans an internship start within 12 months. Third, the internship is often a longer, mid-degree step. A German Praktikum can start from the third Bachelor semester at McKinsey and BCG, and a French stage de fin d'études is at least five months at BCG.
If you are an American student applying to a European office, plan around that office's calendar, not your school's on-campus season. The consulting interview prep timeline gives plans from two to twelve weeks to fit before each window.
When do firms recruit in the UK?
The UK runs on fixed deadlines: most full-time rounds closed in October and early November 2026, and penultimate-year internships close between early January and mid-January 2027. Bain London's Associate Consultant round closed on 15 October at 23:59 BST, with first-round interviews in mid-November and finals from late November to early December, according to Bain's London recruiting page. The same page says applications for the 2027 Associate Consultant Intern (ACI) programme, for penultimate-year students, are expected to open in November 2026.
McKinsey's campus application deadlines tool lists UK roles as Business Analyst, Business Analyst Intern and Junior Associate, with a date per role; we could not load the date rows on 6 November 2026, so select "UK" in the tool rather than rely on a date quoted elsewhere. The McKinsey deadline guide explains how its rounds work. Outside strategy, Deloitte UK gives 5 October as the expected opening date for its Consulting graduate roles, says its Spring into Deloitte programme opens on 9 November, that it runs one application per year across early careers, and that it closes roles early when volume is high (Deloitte UK early careers timelines, read 7 November 2026).
BCG London's UK page says "all decisions are made after the deadline", so applying late in the window costs nothing. OC&C does the opposite: its application page says it screens on a rolling basis, opens graduate roles in early September with a deadline in early November, and opens the internship in early October with a deadline in mid-January.
Interview rounds follow within weeks of each deadline: Bain's London finals run from late November to early December. OC&C's internship process is two 30-minute virtual case interviews, then two 45-minute in-person cases with Associate Partners and Partners. For the full UK process, including spring weeks and the Big 4, read the UK consulting recruiting guide. For a firm-by-firm deadline tracker, see UK consulting application deadlines 2027, and for the three London MBB processes side by side, see MBB London recruiting. The OC&C case interview guide and Newton Europe interview guide cover two London firms with their own formats.
International graduates should note one dated change: the UK Graduate visa gives two years if you apply on or before 31 December 2026, and 18 months if you apply on or after 1 January 2027 (GOV.UK).
What to do this month (UK): apply to OC&C Analytics before 8 November if you are eligible, watch Bain London for the ACI opening, and draft internship applications for the January deadlines now.
When do firms recruit in Germany and Austria?
Germany and Austria recruit all year, but most firms review applications in batches: McKinsey's next cut-off is 23 November 2026 and Roland Berger's internship cut-off is 15 January 2027. McKinsey Germany's deadline page lists two dates for 2027 entry: 24 August 2026 (passed) and 23 November 2026. After 23 November, McKinsey says you get feedback in mid to late December, prepare in December, have a first interview in January 2027 and, if it goes well, an interview day in January or February. The entry roles on the page are Fellow Intern, Associate Intern, Junior Fellow, Fellow and Associate.
BCG takes applications year-round in Germany and Austria and has no published deadline for its Visiting Associate internship. Its Visiting Associate page says you apply no earlier than six months before your start, from the third Bachelor semester, for eight or ten weeks (up to twelve for a mandatory internship) in one of eight offices. Its process page describes two rounds on two days:
Round 1
virtual
- 30-minute cognitive test: numerical, verbal, logical
- Multiple choice, no aids allowed
- One case interview, then personal feedback
Round 2
separate day
- Two cases: one in German, one in English
- In person for full-time, virtual for internships
- BCG Real Life: two 15-minute conversations
The fixed-date programmes are where German deadlines bite. BCG's Women's Intensiveship is a four-week internship with three 2027 windows: apply by 10 January 2027 for spring (starts 22 February, 1 March or 8 March), by 28 March for summer and by 27 June for autumn. The FAQ lower on the same page still shows 2026 dates, so trust the dated block at the top. Bain's Power of 4 gap-year programme, for German-speaking students finishing a Bachelor's by mid-2027, closes on 6 December 2026; it combines internships at Allianz, Bain, Deutsche Telekom and FC Bayern from September 2027 to June 2028.
Tier-2 firms batch as well. Roland Berger's internship posting says every application waits for the next cut-off, that each cut-off gives the same chance of a selection day, and that the selection day is one personality interview and two technical interviews. It also warns that it cannot guarantee a start before April 2027. Simon-Kucher's student FAQ recommends applying about six months before your start, allows internships from the fourth Bachelor semester, and sets a minimum of ten weeks.
For the full German process, including Oliver Wyman, Strategy&, Porsche Consulting and Horváth, read consulting recruiting in Germany. The firm map is in consulting firms in Germany, the German CV rules in the consulting Lebenslauf guide, and the Roland Berger interview in the Roland Berger case interview guide.
What to do this month (Germany and Austria): submit to McKinsey before 23 November if you want January interviews, apply to Power of 4 by 6 December if eligible, and practise one case in German and one in English before any BCG second round.
When do firms recruit in Switzerland?
Switzerland has no deadlines at BCG: Zurich and Geneva accept applications all year and ask for at least six months' notice before your start date. BCG Switzerland's interview page describes the full-time process as a virtual 30-minute cognitive test, one virtual 45-minute case interview, then a final round of three in-person cases in Zurich. Visiting Associates take the cognitive test, then one round of three in-person cases.
Language is the Swiss detail most candidates miss. BCG requires fluent English and calls German or French "a plus but not a requirement". Interviews are "generally conducted in German or French, with at least one interview in English", and all interviews are in English if you are not fluent in German or French.
Campus timing matters at the University of St. Gallen. The HSG Career Days 2026 have passed; the HSG Career Center now lists the 2027 edition from 11 to 20 October 2027, with consulting on 19 October 2027. Students apply for each event module in advance, in English or German. Bain's Masterclass (below) includes the Zurich office. For Swiss pay, see consulting salary in Switzerland.
What to do this month (Switzerland): if you want to start in May 2027, apply now; six months' lead time puts a November application at a May start.
When do firms recruit in France?
France recruits on a rolling basis around the stage de fin d'études: BCG asks you to apply four to six months before your start, runs three rounds in four to six weeks, and says about 85% of its interns receive a permanent offer. BCG France's recruiting page sets out the process: round one is an interview plus a logic test at BCG, round two adds a written case for end-of-studies interns and permanent hires (a césure candidate only interviews), and round three is one or two interviews with a Partner. You get detailed feedback after each round, and replies to applications usually take two to four weeks.
Three French rules shape the calendar. The internship is the main pre-hire route, with the same process as a permanent hire. A césure (gap-year) internship counts as pre-hire too, but BCG asks you to apply for the second half of your gap year, after a first professional experience. And reapplying is slow: BCG reviews a new application only after 12 months and at least six more months of experience.
Language is strict for Paris. Bain's Bainworks page lists fluent French and English at C1 for France. McKinsey's French calendar is set by school and office in its campus deadlines tool, where France is one of the school locations; we could not load the French careers page on 6 November 2026, so we do not quote a McKinsey France date.
For the international student's view of the French process, read consulting recruiting in France. French readers can use the French-language MBB guide.
What to do this month (France): for a stage starting in March to May 2027, apply now; for September 2027, plan to apply between March and May.
When do firms recruit in Benelux?
Benelux recruits office by office on a rolling basis, with few published dates; the Netherlands has the most detailed official process, at Strategy&. Strategy& Amsterdam's recruitment process page says it replies within about 10 working days, sends a two-part cognitive and behavioural online assessment (about 60 minutes) within a week, then runs a first round of three 60-minute interviews and a second round of three with senior staff. Each interview mixes personal fit and a case.
Bain is the one firm with a stated language rule for the Netherlands: Bainworks lists Dutch. Brussels and Amsterdam both appear among Bainworks offices, and Amsterdam is in the Masterclass. The local firm landscape, including Dutch-language firms, is in consulting firms in the Netherlands, and the Dutch CV norms in the Netherlands consulting CV guide.
What to do this month (Benelux): check whether your target office needs Dutch or French, and take a practice cognitive test before any Strategy& invitation, which Strategy& itself recommends.
When do firms recruit in the Nordics?
The Nordics recruit all year: BCG has no internship deadline and reviews Visiting Associate applications on an ongoing basis in Stockholm, Copenhagen, Helsinki and Oslo. BCG's Nordic internship page says the internship is six to eight weeks, open to students in their second to fourth year, and starts with a logical reasoning test of 80 questions in 30 minutes with no calculator. Two case interviews follow, then one more case with a Partner. Applications need a CV, high school transcripts and university transcripts.
Bain's Nordic recruiting page covers the same four cities. Its Associate Consultant Intern role is six weeks for third-year Bachelor's or first-year Master's students, and it asks for a cover letter, resume and transcripts. The page promises office deadlines but printed none on 6 November 2026, and its part-time Junior Associate Consultant role, offered only in Copenhagen, was closed. Neither firm's Nordic page states a local-language requirement.
What to do this month (Nordics): practise speed logic without a calculator before you apply to BCG, because 80 questions in 30 minutes is about 22 seconds each.
When do firms recruit in Spain?
McKinsey Spain uses seven fixed application dates from September to March, then reviews every two months from April to August; the next date is 3 December. McKinsey's Spain careers page lists 10 and 24 September, 29 October, 3 December, 7 January, 18 February and 18 March. It prints no year; read in November 2026, the remaining dates are 3 December 2026 and 7 January, 18 February and 18 March 2027. Roles include Business Analyst and Business Analyst Intern, with Tech & AI and Private Capital variants, in Madrid and Barcelona. The page also lists a Women Leading the Way event in Madrid in November 2026 and says the next Atrévete scholarship edition is in 2027.
BCG Spain's Visiting Associate posting showed "the job you are trying to apply for has been filled" on 6 November 2026, so watch for the next posting rather than plan around last year's. Bain's Bainworks page lists Spanish for Spain, and Madrid is in Bain's Masterclass.
What to do this month (Spain): if your application is ready, submit for 3 December; if not, aim for 7 January rather than rushing.
When do firms recruit in Italy?
Italy runs short programme windows rather than an open season: BCG Milan's summer internship took applications for one week, 13 to 20 January, in its 2026 edition, and the 2027 window was not yet posted on 6 November 2026. BCG's Italy internship page still describes the 2026 programme: eight weeks in Milan in June and July, C1 Italian and English required, screening, then an online business case with preparation material, then an HR interview and a business case "in Italian and/or English". If the 2027 edition follows the same pattern, expect a mid-January window, but that is our inference.
McKinsey Italy's selection page lists three steps: a Digital Assessment (the McKinsey Problem Solving Game, known as Solve), a first session of one or two interviews with Managers and Associate Partners, and a final session of three interviews with Partners and Senior Partners. It prints no dates.
Campus is the other timing anchor. Bocconi&Jobs runs 9 to 11 November 2026, with live days on 10 and 11 November and extra application days until 22 November. Bain's Masterclass includes Milan and Rome.
What to do this month (Italy): use the Bocconi&Jobs window if you are a student there, and prepare an online business case now so the January BCG window does not catch you cold.
Which online test will you take in each country?
BCG is the firm whose first test changes most by country; McKinsey uses Solve, and Bain uses Sova or TestGorilla. Bain's digital assessment page says the test takes about 30 to 40 minutes, the email after your application tells you which of the two you will take, pen, paper and a calculator are allowed, and AI tools are banned. McKinsey names Solve on its Italy page, in the FAQ of its German deadline page and in the FAQ of its Spain page; where a country page does not name the test, your invitation is the source of truth.
Practise the exact test you will face, not a generic one. Our guides cover McKinsey Solve, Bain's Sova test and numerical reasoning tests in consulting. For the full BCG map by office, read the BCG online assessment by country.
The online tests McKinsey, BCG and Bain give before the case interview
Which language will your case interview be in?
English works in the UK, Ireland and most of Benelux and the Nordics, but Germany, Switzerland, France, Spain and Italy expect the local language at some or all stages. The official rules we could verify on 6 November 2026:
- BCG Germany and Austria: round two has one case in German and one in English. Applications may be in German or English (BCG).
- BCG Switzerland: German or French with at least one English interview; all English if you are not fluent in either (BCG).
- BCG Italy: C1 Italian and English; interview and case in Italian and/or English (BCG).
- Bain: C1 French and English for France, Dutch for the Netherlands, Spanish for Spain; Bain adds that some offices may require the local language (Bainworks).
- Simon-Kucher Germany: documents in German or English (Simon-Kucher).
How to ask for English, and how to practise a case in a second language, is covered in case interview language in Europe.
Which pan-European programmes can get you in early?
Bain's Lead to Inspire Masterclass, open to students in Europe or the Middle East graduating in 2027 or 2028, closes on 22 November 2026 and is the widest early-access programme open right now. Bain's Masterclass page says it runs from January to May 2027, pairs each participant with a Bain mentor and runs masterclasses on problem solving and case interviews. Participating offices include Amsterdam, Berlin, Dusseldorf, Frankfurt, Helsinki, Lisbon, Madrid, Milan, Munich, Oslo, Paris, Rome, Stockholm, Vienna, Warsaw and Zurich. Applicants send a CV, transcripts and a short written response, then take a digital assessment.
Bainworks, a two-day event in Athens held in English, is closed for 2027; Bain says the next application phase opens in summer 2027. The country-specific programmes are listed in their sections above: BCG's Women's Intensiveship and Bain's Power of 4 in Germany and Austria, and McKinsey's Atrévete scholarship in Spain.
When do master's and MBA candidates recruit in Europe?
MBA recruiting in Europe follows the school, not the firm: OC&C, for example, runs MBA full-time windows in August to September and March to April, and summer internship windows from October to January. OC&C's application page lists those three MBA windows. At London Business School, 42% of the MBA 2024 class and 29% of the MiM 2024 class went into consulting, according to LBS.
INSEAD's two intakes create two calendars. Its admissions page lists August 2027 intake rounds closing 15 September 2026, 3 November 2026, 19 January 2027 and 9 March 2027, so admits in the later rounds start recruiting only once they arrive on campus. Master's students in France and Germany usually recruit through the internship route described in their country sections.
For the full MBA sequence, read the MBA consulting recruiting timeline and best MBA programmes for consulting; INSEAD candidates can practise with our INSEAD case book guide.
What should you do this month?
Pick your country's next cut-off, work back six weeks, and start case practice before you submit, because European feedback comes fast: about four weeks after the McKinsey Germany cut-off and two weeks after Roland Berger's. A plan by stage:
- Applying for a 2027 internship: list your offices and their model (deadline, batch or rolling), then submit to the nearest cut-off you can meet with a strong CV. Use the consulting resume guide and, for Germany, the Lebenslauf guide above.
- Invited to a test: practise that firm's actual format, from the table above.
- Invited to interviews: practise cases out loud, in the language of the interview. The case interview prep guide gives the method; market sizing questions cover the estimation part that shows up in almost every first round.
- Missed a deadline: in Germany or Spain, aim for the next batch; in the UK, look at off-cycle and January internship windows instead of waiting a year.
