Strategy& pays between roughly $90,000 and $251,000 a year in the United States below manager level, and almost all of it is cash. An undergraduate hire entering as an Associate Consultant lands near $90,000 to $142,000 total on about $103,000 base, per Glassdoor data from 2025. An MBA hire enters as a Senior Associate near $163,000 to $251,000 on about $170,000 base, backed by the deepest sample in the data at 378 submissions. The MBA offer letter posts a $190,000 base with bonus up to $60,000 and a $30,000 signing bonus.

Outside the US the shape holds with lower nominal bands. The UK undergraduate base runs about £52,000 with bonus up to £5,200, and the Amsterdam MBA base runs about €95,000 with bonus up to €20,000. Every number below carries its source and check date, and where two snapshots disagree, both are shown side by side with the overlap called out.

What Strategy& pays an undergraduate associate

The Associate Consultant is the undergraduate entry role, and the two snapshots agree on the shape. The headline annual band runs $90,000 to $142,000 total with about $103,000 average base and a $113,000 median. The monthly-pay snapshot tells the same story in different units on 227 submissions: about $8,000 to $11,000 per month total with about $9,000 average base, which annualizes near $96,000 to $132,000 with about $108,000 base. Anchor on the overlap near $95,000 to $135,000 rather than either endpoint.

The offer-letter figure sits just above the realized average: a $100,000 base with bonus up to $27,000 and a $5,000 signing bonus, for total cash up to about $127,000. That is the number a campus offer actually quotes, while the Glassdoor band describes what consultants banked across bonus years. The ladder behind these titles is covered in the Strategy& consulting overview.

What Strategy& pays MBA senior associates and senior consultants

This is the best-documented stretch of the ladder. Senior Associates show $163,000 to $251,000 total with a $201,000 median, on about $170,000 base plus $31,000 additional pay across 378 submitted salaries, the deepest sample in the data. The New York slice runs $153,000 to $231,000 with a $187,000 median on about $159,000 base across 146 salaries, slightly below the national average because the city pool skews junior.

Senior Consultants run $133,000 to $200,000 with a $162,000 median on about $140,000 base plus $22,000 additional pay. Read that band as a parallel title series pooling different submissions, not as a rung above Senior Associate, because the Senior Associate page carries the deeper sample and the higher median. The MBA offer letter posts $190,000 base with bonus up to $60,000 and a $30,000 signing bonus, which sits above the realized $170,000 average base exactly the way a ceiling offer should.

Why the same Strategy& level shows two different numbers

Two kinds of disagreement appear above, and neither means a source is wrong. First, Glassdoor refreshes its model estimates as new submissions arrive, so the Associate annual page and the Associate monthly page captured different pools months apart. The honest read is the overlap near $95,000 to $135,000, not either endpoint. Second, the MBA offer letter posts a $190,000 base while realized Senior Associate packages average about $170,000. Those measure different things: one is the headline number on a signed letter in a strong year, the other is what consultants banked across ratings and offices.

Three rules keep a comparison honest:

  • Fix the measure before the firm. Base, total cash and offer-letter ceiling answer different questions. Compare like with like or the conclusion is an artefact.
  • Fix the date. Every figure here carries the snapshot date beside it. Bonus pools move every year even when bases sit still.
  • Fix the geography. A New York figure and an Amsterdam figure are not the same offer in a different currency, because the benefits and tax base differ.

Strategy& bonus, signing and retirement mechanics

The package is cash: base plus performance bonus plus a signing bonus for eligible campus hires. Management Consulted's firm directory (2026) posts the full entry menu: undergraduates get a $100,000 base with bonus up to $27,000 and a $5,000 signing bonus, while MBA hires get a $190,000 base with bonus up to $60,000 and a $30,000 signing bonus. MBA interns are posted at a $31,730 term base. Treat any other signing figure you see elsewhere as unverified and ask the recruiter directly.

Retirement is one place Strategy& publishes more than most boutiques. The same directory (Management Consulted firm directory, 2026) posts 25 percent of the first 4 percent with a five year vest for undergraduates, and 4 percent automatic with no match required plus a 25 percent match up to 6 percent in a separate account for MBA hires. Posted paid time off runs 15 days for undergraduates and 20 days for MBA hires, with relocation up to $2,000. Confirm the vesting schedule and any signing clawback in writing before comparing against a firm that publishes its contribution.

What the data supports on variable pay: additional pay runs about 18 percent of base at Senior Associate and about 16 percent at Senior Consultant. The bonus lever is real from the MBA entry point, unlike firms where it barely exists at entry.

Strategy& manager and partner pay: the documented gap

No fetched source states Manager, Director, or Partner compensation with a citable number. The official Strategy& careers page publishes roles and recruiting channels, not bands. Levels.fyi returns an empty company page for the firm, which was verified on September 11, 2026. Deleting the gap would be worse than naming it: a salary page that invents manager pay destroys trust in every accurate row above it. If senior economics matter to your decision, ask for the Manager band and the profit-share mechanics in the interview process, alongside the Strategy& case interview guide.

Strategy& vs McKinsey, BCG and Bain in 2026

Strategy& matches MBB on the MBA offer base and trails on realized year-one totals. Year-one totals below are base plus bonus plus signing where disclosed.

FirmMBA entry titleBaseYear-one total
Strategy&Senior AssociateAbout $190,000 offer (about $170,000 realized average)About $201,000 median realized, up to about $280,000 on a max-bonus offer
McKinseyAssociate$192,000About $262,000–$267,000
BCGConsultant$190,000About $260,000–$270,000
BainConsultantAbout $192,000About $275,000–$285,000

Sources: Management Consulted Strategy& firm directory and Glassdoor Strategy& Senior Associate rows above; MBB rows as published on our McKinsey salary, BCG salary, and Bain salary pages. MBB firms charge a premium for generalist scale and brand; Strategy& prices near the MBA base and selects harder on execution-linked and deals reps.

The trade is the platform, not the entry check. Strategy& sells strategy connected to the PwC network's delivery scale, including deals strategy and transformation work that standalone boutiques cannot staff alone, which is why candidates who price the two-to-four year exit over year-one cash still take the offer. That trade sits at the centre of the wider MBB versus boutique versus Tier 2 comparison, and the Big 4 consulting firms guide plus the Big 4 versus MBB comparison put the Strategy& economics in context.

Strategy& salary outside the United States

Non-US figures come from the offer-letter directory rather than large crowdsourced samples, so read them as posted ceilings. UK undergraduates are posted at about £52,000 base with bonus up to £5,200 and a £6,000 signing bonus (Management Consulted firm directory, 2026). Amsterdam MBA hires are posted at about €95,000 base with bonus up to €20,000, a €20,000 signing bonus, and relocation up to €5,000 (Management Consulted firm directory, 2026). Canada posts about C$70,000 base with bonus up to C$14,000 and a C$5,000 signing bonus, Australia posts about A$81,000 base with an A$11,000 signing bonus, and Dubai posts about $70,000 base with a $10,000 signing bonus and relocation up to $5,000 (Management Consulted firm directory, 2026).

For Germany and France this page found no verified firm-specific band, matching the gap the Strategy& consulting overview already flags. Confirm the local band with a recruiter and in the written offer rather than converting a US figure. For the platform view across the network, the PwC consulting salary page adds Big Four context.

Negotiating a Strategy& offer: what actually moves

Base salary at entry is banded and moves very little, because a firm that hires a cohort cannot pay one associate more than the person sitting beside them without breaking the band. What does move:

  • Signing bonus. It is posted at $30,000 for MBA hires and $5,000 for undergraduates, which makes it the first thing to check against a competing offer with a documented number.
  • Level placement. For experienced hires this is worth more than any cash negotiation. Entering as a Senior Associate rather than an Associate Consultant is worth roughly $60,000 in average base on the Glassdoor figures. Argue the scope of your prior work, not the salary.
  • Start date and office. Lower stakes, more flexible, and worth asking about when the cash components are fixed.
  • Nothing, if you have no alternative. A negotiation without a competing offer or a documented current package is a request, and it is usually answered with the band.

Two things that do not help: quoting an aggregate figure from a salary site as if it were an entitlement, and negotiating before the offer is formally extended. Bring your own current total compensation in writing, or a competing offer letter, or accept the band.

What Strategy& compensation is worth on exit

Strategy& works across corporate strategy, deals strategy, operations, and technology strategy inside the PwC network, and exit compensation is part of the value of the offer rather than a separate topic. Corporate strategy teams recruit from the firm for the strategy-through-execution reps juniors accumulate, and deals teams recruit for the transaction cycles. The mechanics of that calculation, including how title and tenure map to industry bands, are in the consulting exit opportunities guide.

One practical consequence: if the exit is the plan, the Senior Associate promotion is the milestone that changes your deal-team title, not the Associate Consultant promotion. That argues for staying through the promotion cycle where the pay curve also steepens.
