How we check what we publish

Where our facts come from, how practice content is checked before it goes live, and what each of our numbers counts and when.

Where our facts come from

Four kinds of source, in order of trust. When two disagree, the higher one wins.

  1. The firm's own pages

Which tests a firm uses, the steps of its process, what it says it looks for

Named as the firm: “McKinsey says”

  2. The test provider's own documents

Format, timing and question types of an online test

    Named as the provider

  3. Our own product data

Counts of cases, drills, formats, accounts and ratings

Shown with the date it was counted

  4. Candidate reports

What people say they saw on test day, when no official source covers it

Labelled “candidates report”, never stated as the firm’s rule

How practice content is checked

Cases

  • Most cases are adapted from MBA consulting club casebooks, after we check we may use them. The rest are written by us.
  • Each case's prompt, exhibits, numbers and answer key are compared with the source, and the case is run end to end in guided mode, and in voice mode where it is offered, before it goes live. Until then it stays a draft, out of the library and out of the counts.
  • Automated tests check that the AI grader receives every figure an answer key relies on, and that answer keys never reach the browser.

Online test practice

  • Every question is original practice material written for Road to Offer, not an official question from a firm or test provider.
  • Before a question ships it is solved blind by a reviewer who has not seen the answer key and is not its author. A wrong key or a second defensible answer sends it back.
  • Each question is then played in the real simulator, on a computer and on a phone, to check that everything needed to answer it is on screen.
  1. Written
  2. Solved blind
  3. Key checked
  4. Played on desktop and phone
  5. Live

Drills and grading

  • Drill answers are graded against a reference answer that stays on our server until you have answered.
  • Case debriefs score 7 skills with fixed weights, the same for every candidate:
Case debrief skill weights
Structure & MECE25%
Quantitative Accuracy20%
Business Judgment15%
Problem Understanding10%
Exhibits Interpretation10%
Communication10%

No invented proof

We do not publish a pass rate, offer rate, rating, review count or user count that we cannot reproduce from our own data, with its date.

So we never claim:

  • Pass rates or offer rates for our users. We do not know who passed, so we do not say.
  • Ratings, review counts or user numbers we cannot reproduce from our own data, with its date.
  • Scores or badges from review sites shown as our own rating.
  • Outcomes. Practice does not guarantee a result. Where a pack carries a refund guarantee, the exact terms are on the terms page.
  • Official status. Our cases, tests and questions are independent practice material, not the firms’ or providers’ own.

Candidate quotes are published word for word with the author's permission and say where they came from. They are one person's experience, not a typical result. Read them on reviews; refund guarantees are in the terms.
