Accenture HireVue: No-Retake Elimination Round and How to Pass (2026)
Accenture runs its video interview on HireVue as an elimination round with no retakes. The reported format, real questions, and how to prep.
On this page
Accenture's HireVue is an elimination round with no second chances. Candidate guides describe a multiple-choice skills test plus recorded video answers, no retakes per question, and AI-assisted screening before any human review. The most-reported decider is first-take composure: structured, clear answers beat polished ones that needed three tries. Everything below is built around that reality.

Format at a glance
Your invite overrides the table. Accenture's process varies by role, from technology to consulting to operations. Train single-take only: if you can land an answer once, the format holds no surprises.

The Accenture questions to expect
Reported prompts cluster into three lanes. Build one skeleton per lane before you record anything:
- Self-assessment. Strengths and weaknesses, long-term career goals. Name a real weakness with the system managing it, and point goals at the role's actual work.
- Motivation and movement. Why Accenture, why you are leaving your current role. Aim at the firm's technology-plus-consulting position and frame the move as toward something, never away.
- Competency. Teamwork, delivery under pressure, client situations. One situation sentence, three action moves starting with "I", a quantified result.
Say each answer out loud against a timer on HireVue Practice before you record.
The single-take method
No retakes changes preparation completely. Most candidates rehearse until one take in five is good. You need the reverse: rehearse until four takes in five are good. Record in blocks of five, keep only blocks where at least four pass two checks (opened with a conclusion, finished before the timer), and never re-record a failed block the same day. Review failures once, sleep, rerun tomorrow. Candidates who chase the perfect take burn out their delivery before recording day. Candidates who bank reliable takes walk in bored, which is exactly the state that performs.
Some roles add a task-based interview with a case study after the video. Keep one case opener ready: a 60-second structure for approaching an unfamiliar business problem. For consulting-track candidates, the consulting case opener reps transfer directly.
Track variants: consulting, technology, operations
Accenture hires across very different businesses, and the HireVue tilts by track. Consulting tracks weight motivation and client stories heaviest: why this work, a stakeholder situation, delivery under ambiguity. Technology tracks add technical grounding to the same behavioral core: expect prompts about how you learn new stacks, a project you shipped, and how you explain technical choices to non-technical people. Operations tracks emphasize process, reliability, and metrics: a time you improved a workflow, how you handle volume pressure, what quality means in your hands.
Aim every track-variant answer at the track's actual work. A consulting motivation answer on a technology track reads as misaddressed mail. When in doubt, mirror the language of the job description back: it names the competencies the screening weights highest. Print the description and highlight every competency verb before rehearsing. Build one skeleton per highlighted verb, and you will walk in with the screening already answered. Read your invite for the track name, then rehearse the two track-specific prompts most likely to appear alongside the shared core. Candidates who prepare one generic set for all Accenture tracks arrive fluent and irrelevant. For the other corporate elimination round with the same no-retake pressure, compare Unilever's games-plus-video funnel.

A prep plan that respects the order
- Skills test first. Multiple-choice practice under time pressure. The video never happens if this gate fails. Expect aptitude staples (numerical, verbal, logical) plus track-relevant items: pseudo-code or pattern logic on technology tracks, prioritization scenarios on operations tracks. Practice the track-relevant items most, because the generic aptitude is what everyone preps and the track items are what separate passes.
- Story bank second. Five skeletons from the common questions bank: strengths, weakness, goals, move rationale, teamwork.
- Single-take blocks third. Five-take blocks until four in five pass. No same-day reruns of failed blocks.
- Case opener last. One 60-second business-problem structure for task-based follow-ups.
What gets Accenture candidates cut
- Rehearsing for retakes. There are none. Every rep must be a first take.
- Rambling openers. AI-assisted screening rewards structure first. Conclusions open, background never does.
- Away-from framing. Leaving stories must point toward Accenture, never away from a current employer.
- Skipping the skills test. The multiple-choice gate kills candidates who prepped only video.

Reported Accenture questions to rehearse
These prompts recur across candidate reports. Rehearse each from a skeleton, never a script:
- Your strengths and your weaknesses, with the weakness managed by a system.
- Long-term career goals and how this role serves them.
- Why you are leaving your current role, framed as moving toward Accenture.
- Why Accenture specifically, naming its technology-plus-consulting position.
- A time you delivered under pressure with a quantified result.
- A client or stakeholder situation you navigated, with the outcome stated first.
