What is in the case math workbook?
The case math workbook is a free nine-page PDF with 35 calculator-free problems, a worked answer key and an error log. The problems are grouped into six sections, from percentages and break-even to investment math and market sizing chains, and each section has a target time.
The first page lists the formulas the problems use. If you want every formula, shortcut and anchor number on two pages without an account, download the free case interview math cheat sheet PDF.
How is the workbook different from the cheat sheet?
The cheat sheet is a reference: formulas, mental math shortcuts and market sizing numbers to memorize. The workbook is practice: problems you solve against a clock, then check against worked answers. Most candidates need both. Read the cheat sheet once, then use the workbook to find out which formulas you can actually apply at interview speed.
How should you use it?
Pick one section, set a timer to its target and solve it out loud with no calculator, as if an interviewer were listening. Then check the answer key and log every miss with its cause: setup, arithmetic, units or dropped zeros. Two days later, redo the misses without looking. Fifteen minutes a day covers one section, so the whole workbook fits in a week.
What does a worked answer look like?
Each answer shows the setup. For example, a client with a 40% contribution margin raises price 10%: on a price of 100, margin goes from 40 to 50, so volume can fall until 50 x V = 40, which is a 20% loss before total contribution drops. That is the step interviewers score, so the key spells it out instead of printing only "20%".
What comes after the workbook?
Paper practice builds accuracy. Interviews also test speed and explanation under pressure, so move on to graded reps: the drills in the case interview math practice guide, the formula families in case interview formulas, and full market sizing questions in the market sizing guide.
